Defender portal is the primary Sentinel path
Microsoft Learn states Microsoft Sentinel is generally available in the Microsoft Defender portal, many new customers are automatically onboarded and redirected there starting in July 2025, and Azure portal support for Sentinel ends after March 31, 2027. Use Defender portal paths as the recommended FSI operating baseline while documenting Azure portal paths for legacy workspace transition.

Tips for Portal Navigation
- Bookmark frequently used paths — Copilot settings, DLP policies, and audit log search are accessed repeatedly during implementation
- Use direct URLs where provided — avoids navigating through multiple menu levels
- SharePoint Admin Center URLs are tenant-specific — replace
<tenant> with your organization's tenant name
- Microsoft is consolidating portals — the new Purview portal (
purview.microsoft.com) is gradually replacing the legacy compliance portal (compliance.microsoft.com); Microsoft Sentinel is transitioning from Azure portal to Defender portal by March 31, 2027
- Some paths require specific admin roles — if a path is inaccessible, verify your role assignment in Entra admin center
